From July 2008 to July 2010, 156 patients (173 teeth) with large area of tooth tissue defect were selected and divided into fiber post group and metal post core group. The teeth in
fiber post group were treated with fiber post restoration, and the metal post and core group were treated with cast metal post and core All patients were followed up for more than 2 years. The follow-up included the loosening and falling off of post core crown, post core fracture, root fracture and secondary periapical periodontitis
In the two-year follow-up, only 2 cases of maxillary anterior teeth post core fracture occurred in the fiber post group, the incidence rate was 2.35%, and no loosening, root fracture or secondary periapical periodontitis occurred. The incidence of loosening and falling off, root fracture and secondary periapical periodontitis were 19.32%, 10.23% and 1.14%, respectively According to the test, there was a significant difference in the incidence of post core loosening and root fracture between the two groups ( Chi; 2 = 15.891, 6.812, P lt; 0.05), but there was no significant difference in the incidence of post core fracture and secondary periapical periodontitis ( Chi; 2 = 0.001, 0.038, P gt; 0.05).
