Recently, researchers from Binhai people’s Hospital of Jiangsu Province published a paper to analyze the clinical effect and application value of pectoralis major myocutaneous flap in the reconstruction of oral and maxillofacial large area defects Studies have shown that the use of pectoralis major myocutaneous flap in the clinical repair of oral and maxillofacial large area defects can meet the needs of the defect area, has good repair effect and survival rate, can effectively improve oral function, and patients are satisfied with the repair effect.
this paper was published in the 12th issue of Hebei Medical Journal in 2015
Methods: 48 patients with oral and maxillofacial large area tissue defects admitted to hospital from May 2010 to June 2013 were selected as the research objects. The pectoralis major myocutaneous flap was used to repair the defects. The clinical effect of the patients after treatment was observed and its application value was evaluated
48 cases of oral and maxillofacial large area defects were repaired with pectoralis major myocutaneous flap. The survival rate was 100%. Among them, 2 cases had distal necrosis, and some survived after treatment, which did not affect oral function. Except 1 case with limited opening after repair and 3 cases with mandibular segment resection, the other oral functions were normal, and the patient satisfaction was 89.58% (43 / 48)
